Set-piece duty is one of the easiest ways to separate two similar FPL players. A midfielder on penalties and corners gets more chances to score or assist than a teammate at the same price who isn’t. This page shows the current set-piece order for every club from official FPL data, then explains how to use it.
Set-piece takers for every club (live)
The table below is built from the set-piece order FPL publishes for each player: first and second choice for penalties, corners and indirect free kicks, and direct free kicks. It refreshes automatically from the official FPL API.

Why set-piece takers matter in FPL
- Penalties are the best chances in football. A first-choice penalty taker gets a high-quality shot whenever his team wins a penalty, on top of his open-play chances.
- Corners and indirect free kicks create assists. The player delivering them gets regular chances to set up goals, which is valuable for midfielders and defenders.
- Direct free kicks add upside. They are less frequent and less reliable, but they give the taker another route to a goal.
A goal or assist from a set piece scores exactly the same FPL points as one from open play. Set-piece duty doesn’t earn extra points by itself. It earns them by giving the player more chances.
How to use set-piece data
- Minutes first. Set-piece duty is worth nothing to a player who doesn’t start. Check minutes and starts in the Player Explorer before anything else.
- Use it as a tiebreaker. When two players are similar on price, form and fixtures, pick the one with first-choice duties.
- Check the order, not just the name. A second-choice taker only gets the ball when the first choice is off the pitch. Watch for that when the first choice is injured, which you can check on FPL team news.
- Expect changes. Transfers, injuries and new managers can change who’s on duty. That’s why the table above updates itself instead of being a fixed list.
- Combine with fixtures. Teams that spend more time attacking tend to win more corners and free kicks. Pair set-piece duty with the Fixture Difficulty Planner when you plan transfers.
Set-piece takers and captaincy
When you’re choosing a captain, a first-choice penalty taker has a higher ceiling than a similar player without duties. Our FPL Captain Picks page includes penalty duty in its ranking alongside official expected points, form, minutes and fixture difficulty.
FAQ
Where does FPL set-piece information come from?
FPL publishes a set-piece order for each player covering penalties, corners and indirect free kicks, and direct free kicks. The table on this page reads that data directly and refreshes automatically.
Does a set-piece goal score extra FPL points?
No. Goals and assists from set pieces score the same as any other. The value is in the extra chances.
Should I buy a player just because he takes penalties?
Only if he also starts regularly and fits your team on form and fixtures. Penalty duty is a tiebreaker, not a reason on its own.
