No exit clause for top talent
Just one year after his last contract renewal, top talent Florian Wirtz has once again renewed his contract at Bayer Leverkusen. The 19-year-old national team player, who has suffered an ACL injury last March, is now under contract until June 30, 2027. Transfermarkt understands that there is no exit clause in his new contract. Until suffering his injury, Wirtz was directly involved in 24 goals in 31 games across all competitions.
Wirtz joined Leverkusen in January 2020 from local rivals 1. FC Köln and quickly established himself in the first team. The teenager was involved in 41 games in 78 games. Wirtz also debuted for Germany’s national team in September and has since played four times for his country. Wirtz has since increased his market value to €70 million, which makes him one of the 100 most valuable players on the planet. “From my point of view, the development in the past two years was almost breathtaking and certainly not foreseeable in this form,” Wirtz said. “I know that I also have to thank the team for it.”
