68 players updated

Transfermarkt.pt has updated the market values of 68 Liga Portugal Bwin players. Among the biggest winners were Pedro Gonçalves (Sporting) and Diogo Costa (Porto). The two Portuguese talents are slated to play a significant role in Portugal’s national team in the future.

Gonçalves from champions Sporting received his fifth market value update in a row and made the jump from €22 million to €25 million. “He continued where he ended his last season and has scored four goals in the first five games,” Area Manager Portugal Marcel de Almeida said. “Right now, he is injured. But with the market value update, the Portuguese national team player is among the five most valuable players in the league.”

Porto goalkeeper Costa saw his market value increase by €4 million. “The young goalkeeper has established himself,” de Almeida said. “The last few years, he was the number two behind Casillas and Marchesin, now he is the number 1, and he has been phenomenal the first few months—in particular, in the games against Sporting and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.”

With a new market value of €10 million, the Porto keeper is the second most valuable keeper in the league behind Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos. “National team head coach Fernando Santos honored the strong performances by nominating the keeper for the national team,” de Almeida said. “Several European top teams have already scouted the Porto goalkeeper.”

Other winners of the market value update are Sporting’s midfielder Matheus Nunes (+€5m to €10m), Porto’s right-back João Mário (+€3m to €7m), Benfica center-back Morato (+€3m to €5m) and the only 15-year-old Roger Fernandes from SC Braga, he received his first market value and stands at €2 million.

Among the seven market value losers is Éverton. Benfica signed the 25-year-old in the summer of 2020, making him the third most expensive player in club history. “The winger has not been able to replicate the form that he displayed in Brazil at his new club,” de Almeida said. “The star of the Brazilian league arrived with significant expectations at Benfica. But Éverton could never justify the €20 million investment and has no longer been nominated for the Seleção. Many Benfica fans have already called him a failed transfer.”

The Brazilian sees his market value drop from €20 million to €18 million. Éverton’s market value is only half of what it was two years ago.
