While fans at home were left rubbing their eyes at what they had seen, those Man United fans who made the trip to Merseyside were in a state of delirium.

One supporter on X, who goes by the handle @MadnessFC4, shared a video clip of his view of the goal, which also showed those around him going mental after seeing the strike.

But it wasn’t just those in the stands at Goodison Park who reacted wildly.

Mark Goldbridge, a presenter for talkSPORT, was doing a live watchalong for The United Stand when the goal went in and struggled to hide his delight at the effort.

“What a goal! It’s probably goal of the season, absolutely fantastic.

“That’s better than [Wayne] Rooney, that’s better than bloody Rooney!” he added in reference the legend’s overhead kick against Manchester City in February 2011.

“That’s fantastic, my Christ, what a bloody goal by Garnacho!

“Star boy? Bloody NASA need to get a hold of him, he’s more than a star, he’s a bloody planet!”

Even better for Man United was that they went on to win the match 3-0, taking them to three victories in a row in the Premier League and just six points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Reacting to his goal, Garnacho told Sky Sports: “I can’t believe it to be honest.

“I just did [it] and I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened around.

“I said: ‘Oh my god’, and for me, of course, it was one of the best goals I have ever scored. I am very happy.”
