Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati have added left-back Tyler Blackett from Nottingham Forest on deadline day. Pat Brennan from Enquirer Sports reported the deal early on Thursday. According to Brennan, that deal is now complete.
Update Aug. 6: The transfer is now confirmed by FC Cincinnati. But unlike originally reported, Blackett will join FC Cincy on a permanent transfer. “We are delighted to have signed Tyler Blackett to our squad,” now-departed Gerard Nijkamp said in a club statement. “A player of his caliber is a welcome addition to our 2021 roster. His experience at the top levels of professional soccer shows his quality and what he can bring to FC Cincinnati.”
The 27-year-old arrives having played 137 games in England’s Championship (no goals 12 assists). Born in Manchester, Blankett, who also has Jamaican citizenship can play both on the left but also as a center-back. The defender is currently recovering from groin surgery and is expected to return to full fitness later in August.
