Striker set to anounce move

Kylian Mbappe is set to confirm his intentions to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season to join Real Madrid. The France international’s contract with his current club is set to expire in June and will be allowed to complete a free transfer to another club in the summer transfer window. According to the BBC and Sky Sports, the French giants have exhausted all avenues in trying to convince Mbappe to stay put at the club, four years after joining from Monaco for a transfer fee of €145 million. The player is reportedly no longer interested in making more money in Paris, where he would much prefer a more dynamic and engaging sporting opportunity in Spain. The player will apparently make his intentions clear soon on the matter.

Mbappe signing would undoubtedly be one of the biggest moves of a summer transfer window that could see an unprecedented number of big stars move from one club to another on a free transfer. The list of players that have contracts that are due to expire at the end of the season includes Mbappe, Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala and many more of European football’s biggest stars. And it seems as though Madrid are unlikely to conclude their summer plans with the signing of Mbappe.

Alaba, Rüdiger and now Mbappe – Madrid continue their major rebuild

Carlo Ancelotti’s side began their serious rebuild last season, when the club moved on a number of stars from their previous era of success, most notably Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. As well as selling back-up midfielder Martin Ødegaard to Arsenal. And in response the club signed young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais and Bayern Munich defender David Alaba on a free transfer.

And it certainly seems as though that rebuild will continue this summer. Following the arrival of Mbappe, Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea central defender Antonio Rüdiger, who will also be available as a free signing in the summer transfer window. The Germany international has already confirmed that he plans on leaving the London club at the end of the season.

Finally, to complete the defensive reshuffle of recent years, Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move for another Chelsea defender in the form of Reece James. According to the Daily Mirror, the England international would likely be a suitable long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal and may be available to sign if the Stamford Bridge side are forced to cover their costs under their new owner.
