Roy Keane is so baffled by Manchester United’s away form that he can’t believe it’s real.

The Red Devils legend was reacting to a graphic of his old side’s away performances under Erik ten Hag which didn’t make for good reading.

United lost again at St James’ Park at the weekend with Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win for Newcastle.

That means that since Ten Hag joined in the summer of 2022, United have 11 times away at the current top nine in the Premier League.

Of those 11 matches, they have a stunningly bad record of 10 defeats and one draw.

The run contains a record-breaking 7-0 humiliation against Liverpool, plus a stunning 4-0 defeat to Brentford in Ten Hag’s first-ever game.

Responding to the shocking figures, Keane said: “That doesn’t look real, is that real?

“That looks ugly. The amount of goals, six at City, seven at Liverpool, four at Brentford.

“It’s not good, they’re obviously in a tough place and the manager is under pressure.”

He added on the squad issues: “There were players that played last night for Manchester United that you’d think would have left the club in the summer, but you’re still going back to the same players that have been getting Man United nowhere fast.

Keane couldn’t believe itSky

“What’s the sign of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

“This group’s not going to change and if they’re not going to work as hard as the opposition, you’re in trouble, and they don’t.”

United last away win against a top nine side came against Brentford under Ralf Rangnick, with a 3-1 victory in January 2022.

Things don’t look like they will get better any time soon either, with Ten Hag’s next away trip back at Anfield on December 17.
