Three months after José Peseiro has stepped down, Venezuela has found a new national team coach. Argentine icon José Néstor Pekerman will take charge of La Vinotinto. The goal is to qualify for the first World Cup in the country’s history.
Pekerman coached Argentina from 2004 to 2006 and guided the country to the World Cup in Germany. Afterward, he coached Colombia at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups. Pekerman takes over from Leo González. The Deportivo Lara head coach was also in charge of the national team on an interim basis.
