Sevilla’s Koundé to replace him?
Centre-back Kurt Zouma is on the verge of completing a move from Chelsea to West Ham. The 26-year-old defender from France is undergoing a medical ahead of the transfer, according to Sky Sports. Zouma is the main transfer target for the defence of head coach David Moyes. As The Athletic reports, a five-year contract awaits him.
Most recently, it became clear that the Blues want to part ways with the defender, in order to subsequently be able to intensify their efforts for Sevilla’s Jules Koundé – the 22-year-old with an exit clause amounting to €80 million is said to be the desired solution of Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel. Apparently, there has now been a decisive progress in the negotiations regarding Zouma.

The biggest obstacle between the two clubs was considered to be the structure of the transfer fee. Now all issues have been resolved. According to reports, €30 million will be paid for Zouma. Chelsea and West Ham are confident of completing the deal. Zouma demanded a significant adjustment of his salary to £125,000 per week, which would make him the highest-paid West Ham player, The Athletic claims.
Should the transfer be finalised as expected, Chelsea’s income would rise to around €155 million – inlcuding the sales from the U23 squad.
