Former Valour FC forward Austin Ricci is set to return to the Canadian Premier League sources with direct knowledge of the situation have told Transfermarkt. Ricci had offers from four different CPL teams and in the end, opted to sign for York United FC. York United have now made the deal official.

“I’m delighted that Austin has chosen to rejoin the club,” York United CEO/President & GM Angus McNab said in a club statement. “He’s a player who was absolutely flying before he got injured and we think he can recapture that form and be a key piece of what we want to do, both with and without the ball. He’s been training with us to maintain his fitness and get up to speed so integrating him in the group is easy.”

The 26-year-old was under contract at Valour FC scoring eight goals and two assists in 18 games across all competitions for the Winnipeg-based club. The striker missed the final 12 games of the CPL season with an injury. Interest in the forward was high and Ricci’s final decision was between York United and Cavalry FC. HFX Wanderers and Atlético Ottawa were also interested.
