The transfer of Emerson Royal to Tottenham is apparently on the verge of being completed. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the London club has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona for a transfer fee of more than €23 million, which is close to the 22-year-old’s market value. Currently, the final details are to be clarified between Spurs and the player’s side.
Although the right-back had already been signed by FC Barcelona in January 2019 for €12 million, he only made his debut for the Catalans in the current season, who previously parked him at Betis. They had shared the transfer rights for Emerson with their LaLiga rivals until they brought him back for €9 million this summer. However, when the return was announced, there was already speculation that he could be sold for a profit in the same transfer window. According to Betis, they will receive 20% of the fee from a resale.
