On top of Insigne transfer

Toronto FC could sign not just one but two Italian national team players in the upcoming summer. After achieving a major breakthrough in the negotiations to sign Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli this summer, the Major League Soccer side has now also zeroed in on Torino forward Andrea Belotti.

The 28-year-old striker will be a free agent next summer and according to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Toronto FC are currently working on a contract offer. But while the deal for Insigne is significantly advanced, the negotiations with Belotti are at more of an early stage and he is not as convinced that he wants to go abroad.

Although Belotti has been injured for parts of this season, adding the striker would be a significant deal for TFC. The 28-year-old was a part of the Italy team that won Euro 2020 and with a market value of $30.8 million would be the most valuable player in the league, potentially only behind Insigne, should both of them join (MLS market values at a glance).
