Deal imminent
Tanner Tessmann will become the latest American to be headed to Europe. On Friday, ESPN reporter Jeff Carlisle reported that the 19-year-old is traveling to Italy to finalize a deal that will see him join Venezia FC. The transfer is expected to be completed over the next week.
ESPN previously reported that a deal with the promoted Serie A side was in the final stages. Tessmann will cost $3 million—the third-most Venezia have ever paid for a player.
A central midfielder, Tessmann has recently trained with Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old has made seven appearances in Major League Soccer this season (no goals).
