Transfermarkt has redetermined or confirmed the market values in the Championship. Among the biggest winners are Ben Brereton Díaz of Blackburn, who receives another multi-million plus following his latest upgrade after the Copa América, and Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing, who was directly involved in 9 goals in 17 league matches so far. The 25-year-old is one of the main reasons, the Cherries sit just one point behind league leaders Fulham and look destined to return to the Premier League.

With an upgrade of €6 million to €16 million, Billing now tops the team internal ranking, together with David Brooks. Brereton Díaz, who scored 14 goals and one assist in 18 league matches – already by far his best tally in a single Championship season – is rewarded with a plus of €3 million to €10 million, also because of strong performances for the Chilean national team.
Dominic Solanke is another important factor for Bournemouth’s strong form and is upgraded for the first time in over two years (+2 to €14 million), having scored the same amount as Brereton Díaz in just as many games so far. Only Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic sits ahead of them in the scoring charts and is currently making the headlines, having netted 21 times in 18 Championship matches while providing a further five assists. As a result, the Serbia international’s market value rises from €16 million to €18 million, which makes him the joint-most valuable player in the league alongside Sheffield United’s Sander Berge (unchanged at €18 million).

Further upgrades at Fulham include US left-back Antonee Robinson (+2 to €9 milllion) and fellow defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who rises by €3 miilion to €15 million. Following his free transfer to West Brom, former Barnsley captain Alex Mowatt proved that he was ready for the next step and receives an upgrade of €3 million as well. The 26-year-old is a focal point in central midfield once again and now valued at €10 million, with WBA looking to directly return to the top flight.
There are also prominent names who have to accept market value cuts, often because of age-related reasons. Gary Cahill, who joined Bournemouth in August and will turn 36 in December, loses €1 million and is now valued at €500,000, while other veterans like Birmingham City’s Troy Deeney (-1 to €1.5 million) and Derby striker Colin Kazim-Richards (-200,000 to €300,000) are downgraded as well. Sheffield United youngster Rhian Brewster continues to struggle and drops by a further €3 million to €9 million as a result of a lack of playing time.
