Second loan stint
Major League Soccer side Inter Miami CF have re-acquired 21-year-old American winger Indiana Vassilev on a season-long loan from Premier League side Aston Villa. The Beckham-owned club announced the transfer of the Savannah, Georgia native on Thursday morning. The deal went officially through before Wednesday’s MLS primary window deadline.
“We’re very excited to bring Indiana back to Inter Miami,” sporting director Chris Henderson said in a club statement. “He left a fantastic impression both on and off the pitch last season and we’re thrilled to see him return. We’re always looking to improve and we feel Indiana will help strengthen our options across a number of positions in attack and midfield.”
Born in the United States, the dual American-Bulgarian citizen is a product of the IMG Soccer Academy and joined Aston Villa’s academy in 2019. The 21-year-old has managed four appearances for Villa in the Premier League but was loaned last season to Inter Miami for much-needed playing time. Vassilev scored three goals in 21 games for the South Florida club in 2021.
