Pundit Gary Neville has now hinted at his prediction for what will happen to Chelsea if they are charged by the Premier League.

He told Sky Sports’ ‘The Overlap’ that he doesn’t believe they would be sanctioned to the extent Everton have been in recent days, saying he feels great sympathy for their supporters.

The Toffees were recently handed a 10 point deduction by the Premier League, the biggest in the history of the organisation.

Many experts believe that Chelsea should be taking this as a severe warning, given the implications surrounding their own financial misdemeanours continue to live on.

Some have even hinted that the Blues could be relegated if they are found guilty of their accused charges.

Neville has now hinted that he doesn’t feel this will happen, and instead thinks Everton have been mistreated.

He said: “I would be furious if I was an Everton fan, I would feel like it’s an absolute disgrace what I’ve done to my club. But on the other hand Everton have done wrong themselves, they have committed a financial crime within the game, so they should be punished but what they are now being is the scapegoat.

“They feel they would be the scapegoat for what would be the tougher new Premier League which to be honest with you doesn’t exist, because they are bullies. They have done it to Everton, but would they have really done this to a Manchester United, a City or a Chelsea? They wouldn’t probably do that!”

While this talk of sanctions looms over Stamford Bridge, it hasn’t impacted their current transfer plans.

There is still the aim to sign a big-name striker, with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen the frequently mentioned targets for the club.
