The last priority for Tottenham in this summer’s transfer window was another right-back. Now, the London club has confirmed that they have reached an agreement with FC Barcelona over the transfer of Emerson Royal. The 22-year-old signed a long-term contract until 2026 and will reportedly cost an initial fee of €25 million.
Although the Brazil international had already been signed by Barça for €12 million in January 2019, he only made his debut for the Catalans in the current season and was previously playing for Betis. They had shared the transfer rights for Emerson with their LaLiga rivals until they brought him back for €9 million this summer. However, when the return was announced, there was already speculation that he could be sold for a profit in the same transfer window. According to Betis, they will receive 20% of the fee from a resale.
