The former Tottenham and Barcelona star signed a three-year contract at Al-Ahli at the end of June. Paulinho previously played for Guangzhou FC in China but left the club due to the COVID situation in that country. Observers believed that Paulinho would return to Brazil but the midfielder instead opted for a big-money contract in Saudi Arabia, where he was supposed to earn €10 million.
