Done deal!

Daryl Dike is headed back to the Championship. On Saturday, Orlando City announced that they have agreed to sell the 21-year-old US men’s national team striker to West Bromwich Albion. According to MLSSoccer.com transfer expert Tom Bogert, Orlando City will receive $9.5 million, plus 20% of any future sell-on fee—a new record transfer for Orlando City (overview).

“I am extremely grateful to everyone at Orlando City for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to play for this incredible Club. This was a great place for me to start my career and I am thankful to the Club for helping me toward this next step of my journey,” Dike said in an Orlando City club statement. While we know he will go on to do tremendous things in his career, it’s an honor to say that Daryl got his start here in Orlando, that we played a strong role in helping him get to this new challenge,” Orlando City EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi added.

For Dike, it is a return to the Championship where he scored nine goals in 19 games for Barnsley. “I worked with him at Barnsley and I know him very well,” WBA manager Valérien Ismaël said in a club statement. “He has the mentality. He is 21 years old and is still a young player – but he has a lot of experience.” In Dike, MLS loses a major star, the striker is the second most valuable player in the league with a market value of $11 million.
