Major League Soccer club Charlotte FC have relieved head coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez just 17 games into the club’s first-ever season. The club also announced that assistant coach Mikel Antía, head fitness coach Cristobal Fuentes Nieto, and first-team video analyst Luis Piedrahita will also depart. Current assistant coach Christian Lattanzio will serve as an interim head coach for the rest of the 2022 season.
“This is a difficult decision, but one we feel is best for the team at this time,” said Charlotte FC owner David Tepper. “I want to thank Miguel and his staff for their hard work during our first season and wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Added sporting director Zoran Krneta: “We appreciate the contributions of Miguel and his staff to our Club, and wish them well moving forward in their careers. We are excited about this opportunity for Christian. He is a very experienced coach who has made a tremendous impact on our squad this season.”

Ramírez leaves Charlotte – Collected 16 points from 14 games
Ramírez was in charge of 17 games across all competitions and managed seven wins, one draw, and nine defeats for a points per game record of 1.29. Two of those victories, however, came in the US Open Cup where Charlotte were eliminated in the third round by the New York Red Bulls. After 14 matchdays in MLS, Charlotte sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 16 points from 14 games.
