Major League Soccer expansion side Charlotte FC have made an offer to sign Brazilian right-back Rodinei from Flamengo. Globo confirmed a report by journalist Venê Casagrande on Thursday. According to the report, Charlotte FC have already made a first bid to Flamengo for the 29-year-old Brazilian. Charlotte are ready to sign Rodinei to a two-year contract.
Rodinei returned to Flamengo last June after spending one year on loan with Internacional. He has since featured in 16 Série A games (360 minutes played) for the Rio de Janeiro-based club. Rodinei also only featured in one of Flamengo’s five games in the Copa Libertadores and was on the bench for the full 90 minutes in the final against league rivals Palmeiras (1-2 AET).
Charlotte FC are scheduled to kick off their inaugural season in 2022. The club has already signed nine players, including former Schalke and Leicester City left-back Christian Fuchs, who is currently playing for the Charlotte Independence in the USL Championship (all transfers at a glance).
