Canada men’s national team head coach Josh Herdman has announced the roster for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica (Nov. 12) and Mexico (Nov. 16). Both games will take place in Edmonton. Canada is unbeaten in third place in the Hexagonal one point behind the United States (standings).
“These home matches present different challenges for which we will need to be ready, but as usual it is one match at a time and with a full house at Commonwealth Stadium we will be pushing for maximum points,” Herdman said in a Canada Soccer statement. “We play for Canada, and it is the fans for whom we are doing this, for those who are as passionate about this sport and country as us. We want to take this country and our fans to a FIFA World Cup, that is our mission.”
The roster is spearheaded by Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and Lille striker Jonathan David. The squad also includes Iké Ugbo. The England-born striker announced on Thursday that he was going to switch his allegiance from England to Canada (check out the full squad).
