Wolverhampton Wanderers, also known as Wolves, are set to secure a deal for Swiss centre-back Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The English Premier League club is reportedly paying around £7.7 million for the 26-year-old defender. This is seen as a major coup for Wolves, as Elvedi was also being pursued by other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham. Wolves are taking advantage of Elvedi’s contract situation, as his current deal with Mönchengladbach expires in 2024. If he didn’t extend his contract this summer, the German club stated they would be open to selling him. Elvedi had a successful campaign with Mönchengladbach last season, featuring in 34 games and scoring three goals. Wolves have the funds to make this signing after selling Ruben Neves to Al Hilal for £47 million. Earlier this year, they also strengthened their defensive lineup by acquiring Craig Dawson.
