Manchester United winger Antony hit back at the ‘unfair and malicious’ criticism from former players.

The Brazilian has been a scapegoat at times for United’s poor performances with Old Trafford legends Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand all making outspoken comments.

In October, Neville labelled Antony ‘embarrassing’ for lashing out at Jeremy Doku in the Manchester derby.

Scholes called him a ‘clown’ last year for his showboating antics.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand delivered a damning assessment following their nervy 1-0 victory over Fulham this season.

“He’s played 11 games this season with no goals and zero assists, from an attacking player that’s not good enough, that’s the facts,” said the former centre-back.

“Today you’ve got to look at a 35-year-old on the opposite wing in Willian and if you didn’t know their ages and career path you’d probably go Willian.”

In an interview with The United Stand, Antony has hit back at those former players turned pundits.

He said: “Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play.

“But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional. None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through.”

The 23-year-old also slammed the ‘digital court’ that was judging him as a player.

“I would like to know how these people who make these unfair and malicious criticisms fared in my place,” he said.
