After his contract was terminated at Basaksehir, right-back Rafael has found a new club in his home country Brazil. It will be the first time the 31-year-old will play professional football in his birth country. Developed by Flamengo, Rafael left his academy club Flamengo 13 years ago to join Man United. Now he is back to pay for his favorite club Botafogo.

Basaksehir and the player agreed a few weeks ago to go separate ways. Rumors from Italy linked Rafael with a transfer to Spezia Calcio. But instead, the two times Brazilian national team player opted to join second-division side Botafogo, signing a contract that will run until the end of 2023.
