Ahead of first season
Major League Soccer expansion side Charlotte FC have acquired Ecuadorian midfielder Jordy Alcívar from LDU Quito. The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract with an option to one additional year. Prior to the transfer, Charlotte FC send $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to FC Cincinnati in exchange for the player’s Discovery Priority. Transfermarkt understands that the MLS club paid around $3 million for the player.
“We’re delighted to welcome Jordy to Charlotte FC as he becomes the 8th player in Club history,” Charlotte FC sporting director Zoran Krneta said in a club statement. “He brings balance to our midfield and can control the game with and without the ball at his feet. He comes from a well-respected league in South America and is very experienced for a player of his age. In Jordy, we add another player to our roster who has experience in big moments for club and country, and we look forward to getting him to Charlotte for preseason in January.”
