Suriname’s vice-president
On Tuesday night, 60-year-old Ronnie Brunswijk has made his debut in the Concacaf League for Inter Moengotapoe against CD Olimpia. The striker played 54 minutes in his club’s 0-6 defeat before being substituted. Brunswijk is the president of the Suriname-based club and the vice-president of the country.
It was not the first game for the club boss. Between 2009 and 2011 Brunswijk also managed three appearances. Playing on the side of his son Damian Brunswijk, who managed just 28 minutes, the club owner and his team were overwhelmed by the Honduran-based club.
Playing at the Ronnie Brunswijkstadion the guests laid the foundation for the next round. Brunswijk has already stated that he will not play the return game in Honduras next week. An international warrant makes it impossible for the businessman to travel abroad.
