Restructuring at MLS club
Inter Miami CF announced on Friday morning that David Beckham and Jorge and Jose Mas have bought out co-owners Marcelo Claure and Masayoshi Son. The Major League Soccer club also announced that Ares Management had joined the Club as a preferred equity investor through funds managed by its Credit Group.
“This is an important milestone for Inter Miami, and we thank Marcelo and Masayoshi for believing in bringing a team to South Florida,” Inter Miami CF CEO and managing owner Jorge Mas said in a club statement. “As we look toward the future, these ownership changes underscore mine, my brother Jose’s and David’s deep belief and commitment to the success of our fútbol club.
David Beckham added: “I am more committed than ever to working with my partners and friends Jorge and Jose to build a lasting legacy, developing youth players from our academy, competing for championships regularly, and most importantly, rooting ourselves into the DNA of our community and South Florida.”
Ares Management has MLS connection – Inter Miami receive $150 million
Ares Management Corporation is a leading global alternative investment manager offering clients complementary primary and secondary investment solutions across the credit, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure asset classes. The Athletic reporter Sam Stejskal tweeted on Friday that Ares Management will invest around $150 million as part of the deal in the club. Furthermore, Ares management already has an MLS connection—the company was co-founded by current Los Angeles FC co-owner Bennett Rosenthal.
