Contract expires 2023
Youri Tielemans is currently playing his third full season at Leicester City. The Foxes signed him in 2019 for €45 million after he was previously on loan from AS Monaco. Whether there will be further season is currently in doubt. “There’s no update really,” Tielemans said in an interview with Sky Sports when asked about his contract situation. “I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.”
The Belgian national team player is under contract until 2023 at the Foxes. A transfer is just as possible as a contract renewal at this point. “There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign,” Tielemans said. “We will see.” Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tielemans has been offered a new contract months ago. But clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United are all interested in the player.
Tielemans has a market value of €55 million, the second highest among all Leicester players—behind Wilfred Ndidi (€60m) and level with James Maddison. He is among the most valuable players around the world with an expiring contract in the summer of 2023. Tielemans has scored 18 goals and 19 assists in 113 games and won the FA Cup with Leicester last season.
