Socios new shirt sponsor
Inter Milan and Pirelli—the last time the slogan was not printed on the shirt of the Nerazzurri was when Dennis Bergkamp played for the club, and 17 players in the current squad were not even born. After 26 years, the current champions have introduced a new shirt sponsor: Socios. The blockchain developer is the leader in so-called fan-tokens, which allow fans to experience their club close-up.
The club remains far removed from the top earners, however. According to Calcio Finanza, the Nerazzurri will receive €20 million in 2021/22—Pirelli will remain sponsor but will no longer be present on the shirts. That is twice as much as city rivals Milan receive from Emirates. In the Serie A ranking, Inter Milan are now behind Juventus and Fiorentina.
The Biggest sponsorship deals
Juventus receive €45 million from Jeep per season, and Fiorentina earn €25 million from their deal with Mediacom. Inter are followed by US Sassuolo, who receive €18 million from Mapei, and Roma, who receive €12 million from DigitalBits. Both Fiorentina and Sassuolo are sponsored by companies associated with their respective club owners. The Juve deal with Jeep also falls into that category; the company is owned by the holding company that in turn is owned by the Agnelli-Elkan family, which controls Italy’s most successful club.
Internationally, the only Serie A side that is competitive internationally is Juventus. The club is at the same level as Manchester City (Etihad) and Bayern Munich (Telekom). Both clubs earn €45 million a season.
