Major League Soccer side Orlando City have signed free agent defender Emmanuel Mas. The 32-year-old left-back joins from Argentine giants Boca Juniors where his contract expired this summer. Mas’ contract at Orlando runs to the end of the 2021 season and the MLS club will have an option for one additional year.

“We are really happy to welcome Emmanuel to Orlando and are excited about the experience and technical skill that he’ll add to our team at this crucial point in the season,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi in a club statement. “Our goal as a Club is to win titles and we believe the move to bring in a high-caliber player like Emmanuel is another step towards that end.”

Orlando City are currently sitting in second place of the MLS Eastern Conference and are pushing for a deep playoff run. Mas, who is an eight-time Argentine national team player is supposed to add both depth and experience to the Lions squad.
