Roma have signed Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patrício. The 33-year-old has signed a contract until 2024. According to the Serie A club the initial fee is €11.5 million, plus performance-based add-ons. Patrício becomes the third most expensive goalkeeper in Roma history.
“Roma is a big club and a new challenge and I’m excited to try and help the club achieve its targets,” Patrício said in a club statement. “In José Mourinho, we are talking about one of the greatest coaches in the world and I am excited to start working with him and doing everything I can to help the team.”
Wolverhampton Wanderers, in the meantime, are expected to announce Patrício’s replacement tomorrow. According to a report by The Athletic, Wolves will announce the transfer of José Sá from the Greek side Olympiacos tomorrow. Like Patrício, Sá is represented by Gestifute, and completing the deal was a prerequisite for Wolves allowing Patrício to leave for Italy.
