Team news is one of the most underrated factors in FPL. A surprise benching can turn a 10-point captain into a one-point cameo, and a returning player can unlock a new differential opportunity. Here is everything we know heading into Gameweek 30.
How to Use This Guide
We compile team news from press conferences, training photos, and reliable journalist reports. Nothing is guaranteed — managers lie in press conferences, and late fitness tests can change everything. Use this guide to inform your decisions, but always have a Plan B on your bench.
Arsenal
Mikel Arteta typically plays his strongest available XI in league matches at this stage of the season. The key question is whether any first-choice players are being managed after European duties. Arsenal’s midweek schedule can lead to rotation, particularly in full-back areas where Arteta has shown willingness to rotate.
Key watch: Monitor Arteta’s press conference closely. If he describes anyone as having “a small issue” or being assessed on the day, that player is a significant doubt. Arteta is notoriously vague in his injury updates.
Predicted lineup: Expect the strongest available XI. Saka, Saliba, and Gabriel are all likely starters if fit. Odegaard’s involvement depends on his fitness — he has been managed carefully this season.
Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s rotation is the eternal FPL headache. Haaland is the only truly nailed starter in City’s attack — everyone else is subject to rotation based on the midweek fixture, the opponent, and whatever tactical idea Guardiola has that morning.
Key watch: De Bruyne’s minutes continue to be managed. If City played in Europe midweek, expect at least one change in midfield. Foden and Grealish often share minutes on the left side.
Predicted lineup: Haaland starts. Beyond that, check the midweek teamsheet — anyone who played 90 minutes is a rotation risk for the weekend.
Liverpool
Arne Slot has been relatively consistent with his team selection this season. Liverpool’s first-choice XI is well established, and Slot tends to make changes only when forced by injury, suspension, or heavy congestion.
Key watch: Salah’s fitness is the one that matters most for FPL. He has been ever-present this season, but any hint of fatigue or a minor knock in training would be significant news. Robertson and Tsimikas continue to compete at left-back.
Predicted lineup: Salah, Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold all likely starters. The midfield trio of Mac Allister, Gravenberch, and Szoboszlai looks settled when all are fit.
Chelsea
Enzo Maresca has settled on a more consistent selection policy than his predecessor, but Chelsea’s squad depth means rotation is always possible. Palmer is the one nailed starter in the attacking positions — everyone else is subject to tactical changes.
Key watch: Palmer’s fitness and form are critical. If he is rested for any reason, Chelsea’s FPL appeal drops significantly. Jackson and Nkunku often compete for the central forward role.
Predicted lineup: Palmer starts behind Jackson or Nkunku. The wing positions are where rotation is most likely. Caicedo anchors the midfield.
Tottenham
Spurs have dealt with injuries throughout the season, and the availability of key players remains a weekly guessing game. Son’s fitness is particularly important — when he plays, Spurs’ attacking output increases markedly.
Key watch: Son and Maddison’s availability. Both have had fitness concerns at various points this season. If both start, Spurs have strong FPL appeal. If either misses out, the value drops considerably.
Predicted lineup: Solanke leads the line if fit. Son and Maddison in support if available. The defensive lineup is less settled due to injury disruption.
Aston Villa
Unai Emery has a clear first-choice XI and tends to stick with it when possible. Villa’s European involvement creates rotation risks, particularly for wide players and full-backs. Watkins and Rogers are the key FPL assets and are likely starters when fit.
Key watch: Midweek European fixtures are the rotation trigger. Check which players played 90 minutes in midweek — anyone who did could be rested at the weekend.
Predicted lineup: Watkins up front, Rogers in midfield, Martinez in goal. The backline of Cash, Konsa, Torres, and Digne is settled when all are available.
Newcastle
Eddie Howe has been consistent with his team selection when injuries allow. Isak is the key FPL asset and starts every match when fit. The midfield of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Tonali is Newcastle’s strongest when all available.
Key watch: Isak’s fitness is the critical factor. Any hint of a knock or fatigue warrants caution. Gordon’s involvement on the left is also important for FPL purposes — he offers assist and goal potential from the wing.
Predicted lineup: Expect the strongest available XI. Isak leads the line with Gordon on the left. Trippier and Hall at full-back provide attacking width.
The Rest of the League
Bournemouth
Semenyo and Kluivert are the key attacking assets. Iraola has been consistent with his selections. Both are likely starters.
Brighton
Fabian Hurzeler continues to develop his system. Mitoma and March provide width, while Welbeck or Joao Pedro lead the line. Rotation is possible given Brighton’s squad depth.
Brentford
Mbeumo and Wissa are the primary FPL targets. Thomas Frank’s team selection has been stable. Toney’s situation (if still at the club) or the alternative forward option determines the attacking setup.
Crystal Palace
Eze is the talisman and starts every match. Oliver Glasner’s system gives Eze freedom to roam, making him Palace’s most consistent FPL asset. Edouard or Mateta lead the line depending on form.
Everton
Calvert-Lewin remains the main forward threat. Everton’s FPL appeal is limited, but their defenders can offer clean sheet potential in home matches against weaker sides.
Fulham
Robinson at left-back is the key FPL asset. Jimenez leads the line and is a reliable budget forward option. Marco Silva’s team selection is predictable and consistent.
Nottingham Forest
Chris Wood continues to defy expectations with his goal record. Nuno’s defensive system keeps Forest competitive, making their defenders viable for clean sheets. Wood starts every match when fit.
Wolves
Cunha is the star. He starts every match and is involved in virtually every attacking move. Wolves’ FPL appeal beyond Cunha is limited, but he is a genuine premium asset at a mid-price tag.
