“Shifting Tides in Saudi Pro League Market Values: Ronaldo Relinquishes MVP Title, Neymar’s Value Dips to 2013 Levels”

The summer transfer window set a new record for the highest amount of money spent on transfer fees, with a total of €8.72 billion. The Saudi Pro League contributed significantly to this figure, with clubs in the league spending €957 million. One of the most expensive transfers was Neymar‘s move to Al-Hilal for €90 million. However, Neymar, along with Karim Benzema and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, were among the players who saw a drop in their market values in Transfermarkt’s latest update of the Saudi top-flight. Neymar‘s value dropped by €10 million to €50 million, while Benzema’s value dropped by €10 million to €15 million. This decrease in value was expected as these players are reaching the late stages of their careers. Other players, such as Franck Kessié, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, N’Golo Kanté, and Riyad Mahrez also experienced drops in their market values. Cristiano Ronaldo remained at a market value of €15 million but went from being the most valuable player in the league to ranking 23rd. Transfermarkt’s market values are calculated using various pricing models, with input from the Transfermarkt community. These values are not equivalent to transfer fees but rather represent the expected value of a player in a free market.
