Meanwhile, soccer commentator Jon Champion is set to join NBC as the voice of the top English Premier League match each week. Champion, who previously held the top spot in ESPN’s soccer booth, will replace Peter Drury in this role, as Drury has moved to Sky Sports. Champion will call the Sunday match window featuring the highest profile game, while Drury will serve as NBC’s lead commentator for other matches. Champion will also continue to call marquee Cup matches and friendlies for ESPN.

In the World of ice hockey, the NHL has released its schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The season will kick off on October 10th with an opening night triple-header on ESPN, featuring matchups between the Predators and Lightning, Blackhawks and Penguins, and Kraken and Golden Knights. The following night, TNT will open with games between the Blackhawks and Bruins, and the Kings and Avalanche. The NHL is also putting a focus on Connor Bedard, the presumptive overall number one pick, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Additionally, the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day will be held in Seattle at T-Mobile Park, featuring a matchup between the Kraken and Golden Knights, which will be aired on TNT.
