Bernd Leno has joined Fulham. The German keeper, who has been under contract with Arsenal since 2018, is said to have reached an agreement with the West London club weeks ago and will now move from the north of the British capital directly to the River Thames. The newly promoted Premier League club announced the transfer on Tuesday night.

“It feels amazing to finally be here,” Leno said in a Fulham club statement. “I can’t wait to join the team, to train and play with the team. I’m relieved that everything is done. I’m just happy to be here. It took a little bit of time but in the end we made it, and that’s the most important thing.”

Media reports have suggested a transfer fee of €9.5 million, which means clubs have now paid a cumulative €40 million for the German keeper. That, in turn, makes Leno one of the ten most expensive keepers in the world. The 30-year-old joined Arsenal for €25 million from Leverkusen in the summer of 2018.

Bernd Leno to Fulham – The desired new no.1

Marek Rodak (33 league appearances last season) and Paulo Gazzaniga (13 league appearances in 2021/22) are the only two keepers, newly-promoted Fulham currently have in their squad. Leno will now become the new no.1. At Arsenal, the international had lost his spot to Aaron Ramsdale last season and only made four appearances in the Premier League.
