New Elland Road winger
Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra on a five-year deal. The Colombian international makes his move to Elland Road as the club’s fifth most expensive signing ever, for a reported £22.5 million (€26.4m), taking the Premier League outfit’s summer spending to just shy of £100m. Sinisterra has made quite a name for himself in European football since making the move to Feyenoord in 2018. In that time, the winger has bagged no less than 35 goals and 29 assists in 113 appearances for the Eredivisie side, with 23 goals and 14 assists alone in last season’s campaign for the club. Which has now undoubtedly earned him a big-money move to the English top flight.
“I am very happy to be here in this beautiful club, I am enjoying this time,” Sinisterra told the Leeds United website. “I know it’s a historic club with beautiful fans. I heard a lot of things about the stadium and atmosphere, it’s amazing so I can’t wait to feel that in person. It was my dream when I was a child [to play in the Premier League], right now I am close to making that.”

However, while Sinisterra may be over the moon about making his dream move to England, he’ll have to quickly come back down to reality to comprehend the notable challenge that may be before him. Which could end up seeing the 23-year-old player step into Raphinha’s role in Jesse Marsch’s side, if the Brazilian departs Leeds in the coming weeks as he’s expected to do.

Sinisterra in, Raphinha out – Leeds enjoying busy summer window
Indeed, while Leeds are spending a huge amount of money to sign players, much of that urgency is down to the fact that they’ve also been forced to sell a number of star players. Earlier this week Kalvin Phillips completed a £44m move to Manchester City and rumours in England suggest that Raphinha could also depart the club very shortly too. According to the Guardian, the Brazilian international is currently being courted by Chelsea and Barcelona, with the Stamford Bridge side agreeing a £55m fee with Leeds for the forward. However, Raphinha reportedly prefers a move to the Catalan giants, with the club president Joan Laporta recently stating that the forward is intent on making the move to Spain. However, for now, Raphinha remains a Leeds players.
