Playoff teams updated
Transfermarkt.be has updated the players involved in the Jupiler Pro League playoffs. Altogether there have been 40 changes, the biggest winner of the update is Vinicius Souza from KV Mechelen; he is up by €1.3 million to now €4.5 million. Belgium’s top clubs, PSV, and at least one club from Italy are interested in the 22-year-old central midfielder. The Brazilian is on loan from Lommel SK and belongs to the City-Group, which paid €2.5 million for 60% of the player’s rights in 2020. His fee now will be significantly higher.
After playing a strong campaign in the playoffs, RSC Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu also sees his market value improve. The 22-year-old has been linked with a transfer to Bundesliga side Mainz and his market value increased by €1.7 million to now €5.5 million. Furthermore, Amuzu’s younger teammates Kristian Arnstad (+€0.6m to €1m) and Marco Kana (+€2m to €4m) also saw their market values increase after regularly playing in the playoffs. Center-back Hannes Delcroix (+€1m to €3.5m) did not miss a beat after his muscle injury.
At champions Brugge, Andreas Skov Olsen increased by another €2 million to now €12 million. At home on the right side of the pitch, Skov Olsen was signed for €7 million from Bologna last winter and has been a huge success. His new market value is unlikely to be the zenith of development. Skov Olsen’s 17-year-old teammate Antonio Nusa increased his market value by €1 million to now €2.5 million.
KRC Genk, in the meantime, have played a disappointing playoff campaign, and, as a result, several players in the squad saw their market value drop. Among them Jhon. Lucumí (-€1m to €9m), Théo Bongonda (-€0.5m to €7m) and Daniel Muñoz (-€1m to €6m). Goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt (+€2m to €6m) is the exception. The goalkeeper was signed for €10 million by RB Leipzig and will join the club in 2024 and even though his performances were not always strong, his market value now more closely reflects the transfer fee paid.

How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
