Kai Wagner linked with a move to England – Leeds United among the clubs interested

Relegation-threatened Leeds United are among the clubs interested in Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner a source with direct knowledge of the situation has told Transfermarkt. The Elland Road side not only has a US investor on board but is also coached by American Jesse Marsch, which gives the club a strong understanding of Major League Soccer where Wagner has emerged as one of the best left-backs in the league.

Leeds are also currently fighting relegation from the Premier League and Wagner could become an important part of the club’s rebuild should Marsch’s side get relegated. Leeds, however, are not the only English club interested. Both Middlesbrough and Burnley are also monitoring the situation. While Burnley are in a dogfight with Leeds to stay above the dropline, Middlesbrough have missed out on promotion to the Premier League this season.

Wagner joined the Union in 2019 from Würzburger Kickers and has since increased his market value from $303,000 to $3.3 million. The 25-year-old won the Supporters’ Shield with the Philadelphia Union in 2020 and has scored four goals and 14 assists in 104 games across all competitions for the MLS club.
