Free transfer
Bayern Munich are set to strengthen their right-back position. According to a report by Sport1 Ajax Amsterdam’s Noussair Mazraoui has agreed on a free transfer to the Rekordmeister. The 24-year-old’s contract at Ajax is set to expire this upcoming summer. With a market value of €20 million, the wing-back will be the third most valuable free transfer in the club’s history.
A meeting in Amsterdam with Mazraoui’s team and the Bayern bosses that included sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic seems to have convinced the player. Barcelona are the other team interested in Mazraoui. The Catalans could now lose out. Recently there have been reports that the Blaugrana have made an offer. “Nothing has been decided,” Mazraoui said about rumors connecting him to Barça. “It isn’t even close. Even though the right-back named Spain as his dream destination it now looks like he is headed to the Bundesliga instead. Mazraoui would be Bayern’s first signing for the new season.
According to Sport1, the Bundesliga champions are no longer interested in Sporting’s Pedro Porro and Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku. Although there is a verbal agreement between Bayern and Mazraoui, nothing is signed yet and final financial details still have to be agreed on. But the club is optimistic that they can conclude a transfer because they can provide a more attractive package both in terms of sporting success but also financially. Mazraoui could earn around €10 million before taxes in Germany.
