Contract was set to expire
Bundesliga side SpVgg Greuther Fürth have renewed the contract with Julian Green. Green’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season. The 26-year-old’s new deal will run until Jun. 30, 2024. The US midfielder has been with the club since 2017 and has played 121 games (22 goals) for the Kleeblätter.
“Julian feels extremely comfortable here, and we are convinced by his quality,” director of sport Rachid Azzouzi said in a club statement. “It speaks for him that he gives a signal that he wants to work together in the future. Right now is not an easy phase, but I am convinced that with the work we have put in, we will see some rewards soon.”
Green added: Our journey together isn’t over. We have accomplished very much together, taken on some considerable challenges, and mastered them with a clear concept. I am still convinced by the concept and trust the decision-makers, which is why I have decided to renew my contract.”
