Chelsea’s form so far in the 2024/25 season has certainly surprised plenty of people.

Yet again, Chelsea made a change in the manager’s dugout during the summer. The decision to appoint Enzo Maresca as the club’s head coach is proving to be a masterstroke, though.

The Blues currently sit inside the top four of the Premier League after a really positive opening third of the campaign.

Next, Chelsea travel to St Mary’s on Wednesday night to play a Southampton side at the bottom of the league table.

Darren Bent prediction on Chelsea

Darren Bent can’t see Chelsea being in the picture for a league title race this season, but he’s pretty confident they’ll end up securing Champions League football with a top-four finish.

“I still think there’s a few issues in that squad. I think they’ll be top four for sure, but to go toe-to-toe and push for the league, not yet,” Bent said on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel.

Simon Jordan feels Chelsea could compete with Liverpool for the title. However, most supporters would’ve took finishing in the top four before the season started.

The fact that a few people are mentioning Maresca’s side as potential contenders to runaway leaders Liverpool proves how far they’ve come in the last few months.

Chelsea will refuse to think about a title race until March at the earliest, so it’s a case of taking it game by game for now.

Can Chelsea capitalise on kind fixture run?

On paper, Chelsea have a great opportunity to consolidate their place inside the Premier League’s top four.

Here is a look at their upcoming league fixtures for the rest of the month:

Ben Foster thinks Chelsea will finish in the top four after proving a lot of people wrong already this season. There’s certainly a chance for them now to cement their spot around the upper end of the table with a string of positive results.
