Giovani Lo Celso put Ange Postecoglou’s men in front midway through the first half but they were pegged back by Pau Torres in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
Ollie Watkins then poked home what proved to be the winner on 61 minutes and it was this strike which prompted Keane, who grew up a Spurs fan, to unleash his brutal verdict.
Keane said on Sky Sports: “Lovely goal from Villa, lovely finish, but defensively from Spurs, woah, really…. Spursy.”
The defeat means Spurs, who were top of the Premier League at the beginning of the month, fall down to fifth in the table.
