From 2018 to 2021, Everton posted losses of £372million, which is well over the £250m allowed every three years.
As a result, Sean Dyche‘s side were plunged right into the heart of a relegation battle, much to the annoyance of fans at Goodison Park.
With supporters in a defiant mood, they made their feelings clear by marching to Goodison Park.
They held aloft a banner that said: “Where there is power, greed and money…there is corruption”.
Fans also held up pink cards with the Premier League emblem underneath, with the tagline ‘corrupt’.
Supporters also held those cards aloft during the Premier League anthem and then again in the 10th minute, due to their 10-point deduction.
This was soundtracked by thousands of fans singing: “Premier League, corrupt as f***”, before a fireworks display more befitting of November 5.
Everton fans had already made their feelings clear by flying a plane over the Etihad Stadium during Man City’s clash with Liverpool with a banner that read: “Premier League = corrupt”.
