Newcastle United are on the verge of breaking a personal Premier League record in their match against Chelsea on Saturday.
The Magpies have not won five top-flight games in a row at St James’ Park without conceding since February 1907. However, if they manage to beat the Blues to-nil on Saturday then they will be able to smash that long-standing record.
Currently, they have beaten Arsenal (1-0), Crystal Palace (4-0), Burnley (2-0) and Brentford (1-0). In domestic league and Cup competition, that run can be extended to five matches as they oversaw Manchester City by a goal-to-nil in the Carabao Cup.
Supporters owe a lot of that adulation to Nick Pope and his performances between the posts. The former Burnley shot stopper has been a revelation since moving to the North East and he will be chomping at the bit to be part of this new accolade.

However, in their way are a Chelsea team that are building some momentum. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have four points out of six against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City and will be hoping to keep that upward trajectory going in this clash.
Also problematic are the defensive injuries that have mounted up for Eddie Howe. Sven Botman and Dan Burn will be out, potentially forcing Kieran Trippier into an unorthodox left-back role.
