Mikel Arteta hopes to call upon captain Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and Ben White for Arsenal’s trip to Brentford.

The trio were injury doubts ahead of the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium but are now in contention to feature on Saturday.

Arsenal boss Arteta confirmed Odegaard had suffered a concussion on the eve of the 1-0 defeat at Newcastle causing him to miss the Gunners’ last three fixtures.

Striker Gabriel Jesus played 90 minutes for Brazil in a high-octane clash against Argentina on Tuesday evening after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Arteta told reporters on Friday: “He is available. He played 96 mins in a really competitive match. He had a long flight. I have to see the condition.”

Meanwhile Ben White is closing in on his return to action after missing the win over Burnley with a muscle injury.

“Hopefully if he’s able to train today he’ll be in contention, We’ll find out in the next 24 hours,” Arteta said.

The Spaniard confirmed that Aaron Ramsdale will make his first league start since September with David Raya ineligible to face his parent club.

But Arteta will be without Fabio Vieira who will serve the first of his three-match suspension after his red card against Burnley.

Arsenal head to Brentford on Saturday teatime aiming to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool who face each other earlier in the day.
