Aaron Ramsdale looks set to be handed his first Premier League start for Arsenal since September this weekend. The Gunners face a difficult test against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
As per Premier League loan rules, a player that has been loaned to a rival team is prevented from featuring against their parent club. Therefore, David Raya will be ineligible to face the Bees after he completed a season-long loan move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Raya replaced Ramsdale as Arsenal‘s No.1 goalkeeper following the September international break and enjoyed a strong start – keeping back-to-back clean sheets. The England international has been limited to making appearances in the Carabao Cup since he was dropped by Arteta – but now faces an uncertain future at the club following the Gunners’ exit from the domestic competition.
Ramsdale is in line to start his first Premier League game in nearly two months this weekend – provided he’s fit and available for selection – and he’ll be keen to make a good impression. The 25-year-old recently opened up on the most challenging period of his career and now has the rare chance to prove Arteta wrong by putting in a stellar performance against Brentford.
Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard are expected to available for selection once again after both had been suffering from injuries. Jesus was spotted in Brazil training during the international break and could be involved in their World Cup qualifier against Argentina on Wednesday, November 22.

Odegaard stayed at London Colney after withdrawing from the Norway squad ahead of the break to focus on his recovery. The 24-year-old has been assessed over the last week and could come straight back into the team after recovering from a hip problem.
