Transfer Talk: Inter move ahead of Man Utd in race for Pavard

By

The summer transfer window is in full swing in Europe, with lots of rumors and speculation surrounding potential deals. One of the top stories is Inter Milan’s pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard. Talks between the two clubs had stalled previously, but they are now reportedly prepared to make an offer of over €30 million plus add-ons to secure the deal. Pavard’s representatives have been informed of Inter Milan’s interest, but a transfer will only happen if Bayern can find a suitable replacement for the 27-year-old.

Pavard has also been linked with Manchester United in the past, but progress on that front slowed down after Harry Maguire’s potential move to West Ham United fell through. Maguire believes he still has an important role to play at Old Trafford this season. Inter Milan now seem to be leading the race for Pavard’s signature, as he has made only one appearance for Bayern this season.

In other transfer news, Paris Saint-Germain have rejected midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum’s request to terminate his contract. The 32-year-old is not part of manager Luis Enrique’s plans and PSG are looking to offload him this summer. They are reportedly seeking a fee of €6 million for the Dutch midfielder. Wijnaldum spent last season on loan at AS Roma, making 14 league appearances.

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is set to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. The 29-year-old has agreed to a three-year contract, and the deal between the two clubs is worth £25 million. Laporte has lost his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup and City have also signed Josko Gvardiol, making Laporte surplus to requirements.

Manchester United are considering a move for Benfica goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos as a potential replacement for backup keeper Dean Henderson, who is linked with Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. The Red Devils have placed the 29-year-old Greek shot-stopper at the top of their wish list.

Las Palmas are set to sign Manchester City midfielder Máximo Perrone on loan until the end of the season. Perrone, 20, made his Premier League debut last season and will now gain further experience in LaLiga.

Lastly, the race for Rennes winger Jérémy Doku continues, with West Ham having an offer rejected. Rennes are said to be demanding £47 million for the 21-year-old, with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur also interested in his services.
