Liverpool is gearing up for a busy transfer window after finishing 5th in the 2022-23 season and missing out on a UEFA Champions League spot. The focus will be on the midfield, as three players are set to depart on free transfers, including Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and Fabinho. Liverpool is expected to sign as many as three central midfielders, including a pair of attackers/capable pressers and a long-term replacement for Fabinho. The club is also seeking a backup and/or long-term replacement for right back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The only confirmed summer transfer so far is Alexis Mac Allister, who was signed from Brighton & Hove Albion for $44 million with potential add-ons up to $69 million. Liverpool is also reportedly interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Kouadio “Manu” Kone and Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven, who has expressed his desire to play at Anfield. Other potential targets include Ryan Gravenberch, Nicolo Barella, Matheus Nunes, Declan Rice, and Moises Caicedo. However, Liverpool pulled out of the race for Jude Bellingham due to his high transfer fee. Liverpool may also face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid for some of their targets. The transfer window will be an important time for Liverpool to rebuild and strengthen their squad as they aim to return to the top of the Premier League and compete in European competitions.
