Now official
Youssoufa Moukoko has renewed his contract at Borussia Dortmund. The Black and Yellows announced on Saturday that the 18-year-old talent has signed a deal until 2026. The original deal was set to expire at the end of the season.
There have been several reports in Germany that Moukoko was on the verge of signing a new long-term contract. Reports by Bild suggested that Moukoko will now earn up to €6 million a season. Ruhr Nachrichten believes that the salary is €3m plus €3 million in add-ons. Transfermarkt understands that the complete salary is in the region of €5.5m. The striker received a €10m sign-on fee, and his agent Patrick Williams from Wasserman received another €5m instead of the usual 10% of the player’s salary.
“Youssoufa is an extraordinary player whom we have developed ourselves and in whom we see huge potential for further development,” sporting director Sebastian Kehl said in a club statement. “I’m therefore happy that we have been able to convince Youssoufa before the start of what will be such an important second half-season for us that he has the best prospects at BVB and that his journey here is far from over. It was important for us to be able to complete the negotiations this week so that we all – and also Youssoufa in particular – could start the 2023 football year in peace and fully focus on the sporting challenges ahead.

Moukoko: “I have been honored by the interest of other clubs”
Added Moukoko: “It’s no secret that I feel comfortable at BVB. I have played in the youth teams, taken my first steps in professional football here, and now I’m ready to take the next step in my development together with the club. I sense the trust of the coaching staff and have an environment here in which I can develop perfectly,” Moukoko added. “I have, of course, been honored by the interest from other clubs, but ultimately it’s a decision from the heart. The fans have always supported me, and I want to give them and the club something back too.”
Moukoko has been heavily linked with a move away from the club. In the Transfermarkt rumor mill, the 18-year-old striker was linked with a move to Barcelona, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and at some point, even Bayern Munich. Transfermarkt understands that Newcastle have offered a big contract with a sign-on bonus in the region of €30m.
The striker was moved to the first team when he was still only 15 and has since made 58 appearances, scoring 11 goals and eight assists. This season he has been directly involved in 12 goals across 22 games and increased his market value from €15m to €30m, which makes him the second most valuable player born in 2004. Moukoko also made his debut for the German national team and was part of the squad that traveled to the 2022 World Cup, where had one short appearance.
